No, don't worry, I haven't gone missing. Just seems like it, from the lack of updates on my blog. This always happens! I'm such a procrastinator, always putting off updates ....blame it on my lousy time management, as well as a lack of an interesting life. Haha...i'm really a boring person... :P
Anyway, let me update u on what I've been up to recently. I finally got to go to TAIWAN!! Whooopee! Stopped over for a nite (about 12 hrs) before heading off to LA. Went to Xi Men Ding and one of the night markets, as they're close to my hotel. Unfortunately, didn't bring my camera as my dad said not to bring anything. Darn!....Ah well, at least my uncle went there b4 and took some pics, so will just 'steal' them from him. Haha!..... It was a bit chilly..around 14 celcius.
And yes,...i really really enjoyed myself there...all the yummy and surprisingly cheap food......*drools* the BEST Taiwan sausage i've had costs NT30 (RM3) each..and they're huge...n also comes with many sauces/flavours but the honey one i tried (coz din really understand..ahha!) was incredible!.....Also had or chien/oyster omelette Taiwanese style...has more egg than ours and looks like a pizza slice. Covered in something like chili sauce but isn't spicy at all and also kangkong i think. Quite nice....Of coz...had my red bubble tea....which was a big cup for NT30 as well....probably the reason y i couldn't sleep that nite..ahha....The only thing I missed...and was the main thing i wanted to try was wuo tie/dumplings!...ARRRGGHHH...i was too full to get them...coz for NT30 u can get 7 dumplings!!!!...where can u get that kind of price in Kuching???
Bsides the food, Xi Men Ding is just a really cool place for ppl our age to hang out...everyone's so trendy...tho it's winter...but it's not the Ah lien type of trendy...very classy...kinda like Singaporean style...and there are all these cool shops...clothes, cute stuff...arcades...etc...from pretty cheap to more upscale type of prices too....a lot of interesting restaurants too. Saw one place where u sit in swings for seats....ahah...It's also pretty big...with different streets..so the street vendors selling all the yummy food could hide from the police..lol...
How about my US trip? Well...wasn't as fun as Taiwan...haha...coz helping my dad with business most of the days in San Diego, California. It's 4 hrs from LA...and when we got there, it was pretty cold, around 11-12 celcius but on our last day it was pretty warm already like 16 celcius. We did have some nice food too..like SALADS..yumm...really miss the Asian Chopped chicken salad we had at this place called Dakota's. It looks fancy but it's also the best American casual dining place in San Diego as voted by the public. We went there 3 times coz my dad liked the salad so much. They have realllyyy nice beef prime rib too....and their babyback pork ribs are huge...tho it was only half-rack. Darn it...why didn't I take any pictures of all that yummy food...Issshhh....but all food portions in the US are big....and they let u have refills of ur soft drink...tho one was enuff for me -_-||
San Diego also has this area like Xi Men Ding, but it's mostly restaurants, pubs...etc, called Gaslamp Quarter. Mostly historical buildings and simulated gaslamps. Behind the hotel where the function was held, there's this tourist area called Seaport Village. It's like our Waterfront, but much nicer. Very clean and just opposite is a naval base i think, coz of the aircraft carriers to be seen. There are lots of places to eat and everytime my dad just HAD to order clam chowder! Kind of a specialty there. Also many interesting shops, each with different specialities, like one shop had all types of mugs...another sells hot sauces...all alcohol related products....and so on. Quite cool to wander around looking at everything. Oh and they sell this potato twist...i tot it was like McD's Curly fries.....who knows it came out like this....
I was actually supposed to stop over another day in Taiwan on the trip back...so that I could go see Taipei 101, Xi Men Ding again (to take pics and get my dumplings)....but had to cancel it as my grandpa on my dad's side passed away on the last day we were in San Diego. It's ok...will make sure I go to Taiwan again sometime soon!...
Anyway, these few months..i have 2 new obsessions.....reading manga...and cooking blogs! Kinda surprised that I've become so addicted to manga but it's mostly coz of Fruits Basket. I'm mostly interested in shoujo manga, typical girl huh? And cooking blogs...there are some really good ones....with simple recipes...and some great pics....makes me feel like cooking....and also makes me drool... :P
So in my next posts...I'll post up some pics i took on my trip....and review my favourite mangas...and my fave cooking blogs...ahahah.....See u until then....Happy Chinese New YEar....where's my angpow? JK!
