Turning 22

Another year has passed and I'm now 22. Time really flies huh? Lol. Anyway, this year it was really a rush as all of us had so many things to due during these 2 weeks. CSE students even had to go back to sch on Friday, a public holiday to sit for a CSE test :P. Then that night, Mike brought me for dinner at Junk and then to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3! Which by the way, was really really good! All those Jack Sparrows! Unfortunately, when buying the DVD for my mum earlier, I accidentally saw one of the important parts and Henry told me something about the ending :P which I didn't really believe. Luckily I didn't bet with him on that or I'd have to buy him the Pirates watch. I bought the RM10 popcorn special just to get the Pirates car sticker.. hehe.

On my bday itself, I woke up early to help prepare the food and etc, but spent most of the time working on my FYP semester report :P And my mum kept wondering why I was glued to the computer n not helping her. Whatever she asked me to do, I'd nod and say yes, then forget about it or just do it halfway. What to do, if I told her I had 2 reports, 2 presentations and 1 assignment due next week, she probably won't let me have the party. Haha! Even my cat had taken a bath..coz he was too smelly already.

Around 5, I went to pick up my chocolate cake from Secret Recipe where I had to wait for quite a long time, since they hadn't written the message yet and basically service is still pretty crappy lo. There is no real order of lining up, the employees still lo lo...but it's also quite sad I had to go order my own cake...ahha..the employee taking my order asked what msg I wanted so I said "Happy Birthday Andrea", then she asked my name and I was quite embarrassed, "Andrea also." then she laughed :P

Anyway, it was pretty much a rush to get ready and take bath. Geez, after taking bath, I still felt all hot and sweaty and it didn't help that the living room air cond didn't seem to work. Surprisingly everyone was early or pretty much on time. I felt really stressed out coz everytime someone came my grandma would go "Girl, someone's here!". I mean, of coz I know but I'm busy serving other ppl drinks etc....and they kept nagging me to ask everyone to eat but they were all busy playing Big 2 or mahjong...so wat to do right? BLEK.. the cocktail bar idea was cool but too tiring coz it was supposed to be my bro who did it, but of coz I ended up doing it coz he didn't help n was too messy :P plus it didn't help with him and my dad complaining about everything I did though it was according to recipe...haiz...all the nagging nearly pissed me off

But the presents I got, made up for everything! Here's a list of the loot I bagged:
- Pink and silver pendant on silver necklace from Chiet, Yi Chan, Thong Wei, Cheryl, Stephen, Lydia
- Round pink cow lamp from Aileen, Dian, Hudy, Kwang Houg, Siaw Yen, Alex
- 2 sets of my photos framed from my uncle Jeffrey
- black Nike handbag from Mike
- pig and pre-order of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! from Serena, Jenny, Chime, Kevin, Alex, Yang Yaw, Mindy
- Jack Sparrow figurine with motion-activated sound!!! from Mike, Henry, Ching Yi, Seng Hock, Dominic, Burger and Siew Hie

The framed collections of some of my photographs from my uncle.

The rest of the presents: Captain Jack Sparrow, cow lamp, pre-order slip of Harry Potter 7, pig, pink necklace and black Nike bag :D

Everything was really really cool and just my style....so I was really happy with everything....till I overheated the next day. Lol!! I had diarrhoea and was rather nauseous from the next afternoon. After finishing my semester report and slides and sending them off to CY, I kinda conked out till 8pm for a dinner of plain porridge. I stayed on the couch watching Love Actually with my mum n shivering -_-||| despite the blankets. It got worse much later when Mike came and he had to take care of me with a wet compress, medicine and water. Later he had to help me up to my room and tuck me in with all my water, compress and medicine all nearby. Of coz he ended up exploring my very messy room and all the books but oh well.

All the yummy food which I myself didn't get to eat too much of coz I was so busy running around! Clockwise from left (9 o'clock): Green salad, potato salad, baked chicken wings, fried wan tan, tuna pasta bake, fried bee hoon, watermelon, pieces of fried chicken breast, and tuna spread.

Captain Jack Sparrow and his 2nd love, alcohol/rum (his 1st love being the Black Pearl, or himself?)

My 1st foray in sepia and black & white

As I'm still swamped with lots of various things, I'll just post some pics of my trip to San Diego as promised in the last post. On the last day of my trip in Feb, I 'discovered' the sepia and black and white modes. -_-||| It's my uncle's camera anyway...so was still a bit new to some of the functions...So, it all started from here at Seaport Village, which is a very nice and clean version of Kuching Waterfront. There were lots of ppl just hanging out, enjoying the live band (there were even ppl dancing along..so cute), walking their dogs, story-tellers, fortune tellers, portrait artists, kids running around, bbqs, ppl just lying around on the grass. Everything just seemed really relaxed and made for interesting subjects. I guess it's coz that was Superbowl weekend. Great timing huh? :D

It took forever to get this shot as there were lots and lots of ppl walking past just as I was taking it :P

This may look like the kid posed for me, but I just happened to spot him and another kid playing around the area. I thought this was a great contrast shot, between the kid and the tree, though you can't really notice the kid at first.

Another candid shot of 2 more boys feeding the seagulls. So hard to take this coz I didn't want to use flash and startle the 'models'...and the birds kept moving...

In addition to the 'relaxed' culture, I like taking photos in US bcoz of their clear blue skies! Such a nice colour and not a cloud in sight.

This looks rather gloomy n barren, doesn't it..hehe..but i like the play of light and shadow :P

What Holiday?!!

Aw man, I seriously take forever to update! BLame it on the workload of a final year student...and also..heh..low stamina...seriously feel so tired each day esp on Mondays n Tuesdays when I have to climb the stairs all the way to the 8th floor :P Anyway, it's now mid-sem break, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Yeah, we don't have to go for classes, but there are lots of extra things. Here's how my schedule looked like for this week:

Saturday, 14th April: Eng. Mgmt 2 tutorial, then rush up to CUltural Village for Rotaract's Amazing Hunt 3. LUckily, all I had to do was man the start/finish line and watch out for any injured participants. Got to go to Permai and also Buntal for yummy seafood dinner with friends. BUt all that driving wore me out..I've never driven up n down to Damai b4...only drove down once when DRR Zack was here...ahha...

Monday: Early in the morning, went up to SK Batu Kitang, a rural sch on the way to Bau, to officially handover the books that we bought with the proceeds of Rotaract's movie premiere. We each took a group of Pri 5-6 kids and read Enid Blyton short stories to them. Had to translate each paragraph into BM..and my BM is damm rusty!...i couldn't remember wat's drown...n had to ask Edison :P Oh! And we had our 'Mahjong Club' Installation bbq...lol

Tuesday: RUsh to finish up Mgmt 2 summary report on Coca-Cola Company. What summary? It was 18 pages!! Lol!!..But another group had 29 pages...so it's ok, lecturer says it's fine anyhow. Replacement Mgmt class that nite, since he won't b here for 26th n 28th of April.

Wednesday: Re-emailed companies in Singapore to find out about the Texas Instrument Evaluation Module for my FYP project. Rushed to sch to attend Swinburne's 2nd World Sch Debate Championship Training Session....as I was one of the adjudicators...Since there was also the 1st prelim round...it ended around 7 plus....-_-||

Thursday: Spent the whole day adjudicating 4 more prelim rounds, and it was mostly the same teams, Green Rd A and B, Lodge A. Later at night, I still had to give tuition.....

Friday: Last day of debate competition..Lodge A vs Green A for the final...which was very very close. It also ended around 7, then we went off to have dinner with CY and Henry...then mahjong!...though we had a Photonics test on Monday, we were too tired to study...

Saturday: Mgmt 2 tutorial...which I thought of skipping since I was still tired out. Looking back, I should have, so that I could study more in the afternoon. So what the heck am I doing now, updating??..Eek.

Seriously, my initial plan for the holiday was to spend more time n effort on my final year project, to study for the Photonics test, and to revise the other 2 subjects. But no...none of that was done. Aww man... Anyway, while at Sarawak Cultural VIllage, though I was stuck at the restaurant, I still ended up taking a lot of pics of the same stuff....ahhaah...mostly the mountain view, since it changed over the hours from totally covered with clouds...to less clouds. Heh. And of course, pics from the beach. Oh and there was this couple...who were taking wedding photos at SCV...not sure if they were a couple or just models...

Testing out the Color Accent mode on this really interesting bush/tree

Thought this made for a good detail shot..hehe..plus the colours r good

One of my fave shots from that afternoon, and this was without flash, so lucky it wasn't blurred. Btw, it was someone lifting up her skirt, not the wind..ehhe

I liked how clear everything came out, esp the reflections

If u haven't noticed, I seem to like taking pics with a blue n green theme....

Kinda like nature photography so here I am, testing the digital zoom mode..

Awww..just like one of those romantic postcards/posters...Guess who they are.. ;)

Somehow this doesn't seem very 'real' to me...unearthly..mayb Mars? Haha..probably due to sepia mode

And my final picture of the day! After about 300 pics... heh -_-|||

And as if u can't tell...I seem to be so into photography now...the main reason is coz...I have a new toy...the Canon IXUS 850IS....which costs RM1499.....and looks like this:

So yeah..i guess u'll be seeing more photos from me soon..lol. Any comments..do let me know :D

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Trailer

The trailer I've been eagerly waiting for! And there was even a special premiere of the trailer in the US, but fans had to apply and win tickets to go. Of coz, besides the trailer, they showed the 1st Pirates movie and had some games and prizes. Anyway, the trailer is EXCITING!!! There's so much going on, like the 2nd movie...but there's also some really really cool stuff....got me all excited and gave me goosebumps just imagining how grand it could be...So, do check it out! Besides the trailer, there's supposed to be some other videos of Pirates showing on the special player.

DOn't forget, this is an exclusive peek! Other websites (besides Disney.com) will only show the trailer from the 21st of March. Hehehe...

Gone Missing?

No, don't worry, I haven't gone missing. Just seems like it, from the lack of updates on my blog. This always happens! I'm such a procrastinator, always putting off updates ....blame it on my lousy time management, as well as a lack of an interesting life. Haha...i'm really a boring person... :P

Anyway, let me update u on what I've been up to recently. I finally got to go to TAIWAN!! Whooopee! Stopped over for a nite (about 12 hrs) before heading off to LA. Went to Xi Men Ding and one of the night markets, as they're close to my hotel. Unfortunately, didn't bring my camera as my dad said not to bring anything. Darn!....Ah well, at least my uncle went there b4 and took some pics, so will just 'steal' them from him. Haha!..... It was a bit chilly..around 14 celcius.

And yes,...i really really enjoyed myself there...all the yummy and surprisingly cheap food......*drools* the BEST Taiwan sausage i've had costs NT30 (RM3) each..and they're huge...n also comes with many sauces/flavours but the honey one i tried (coz din really understand..ahha!) was incredible!.....Also had or chien/oyster omelette Taiwanese style...has more egg than ours and looks like a pizza slice. Covered in something like chili sauce but isn't spicy at all and also kangkong i think. Quite nice....Of coz...had my red bubble tea....which was a big cup for NT30 as well....probably the reason y i couldn't sleep that nite..ahha....The only thing I missed...and was the main thing i wanted to try was wuo tie/dumplings!...ARRRGGHHH...i was too full to get them...coz for NT30 u can get 7 dumplings!!!!...where can u get that kind of price in Kuching???

Bsides the food, Xi Men Ding is just a really cool place for ppl our age to hang out...everyone's so trendy...tho it's winter...but it's not the Ah lien type of trendy...very classy...kinda like Singaporean style...and there are all these cool shops...clothes, cute stuff...arcades...etc...from pretty cheap to more upscale type of prices too....a lot of interesting restaurants too. Saw one place where u sit in swings for seats....ahah...It's also pretty big...with different streets..so the street vendors selling all the yummy food could hide from the police..lol...

How about my US trip? Well...wasn't as fun as Taiwan...haha...coz helping my dad with business most of the days in San Diego, California. It's 4 hrs from LA...and when we got there, it was pretty cold, around 11-12 celcius but on our last day it was pretty warm already like 16 celcius. We did have some nice food too..like SALADS..yumm...really miss the Asian Chopped chicken salad we had at this place called Dakota's. It looks fancy but it's also the best American casual dining place in San Diego as voted by the public. We went there 3 times coz my dad liked the salad so much. They have realllyyy nice beef prime rib too....and their babyback pork ribs are huge...tho it was only half-rack. Darn it...why didn't I take any pictures of all that yummy food...Issshhh....but all food portions in the US are big....and they let u have refills of ur soft drink...tho one was enuff for me -_-||

San Diego also has this area like Xi Men Ding, but it's mostly restaurants, pubs...etc, called Gaslamp Quarter. Mostly historical buildings and simulated gaslamps. Behind the hotel where the function was held, there's this tourist area called Seaport Village. It's like our Waterfront, but much nicer. Very clean and just opposite is a naval base i think, coz of the aircraft carriers to be seen. There are lots of places to eat and everytime my dad just HAD to order clam chowder! Kind of a specialty there. Also many interesting shops, each with different specialities, like one shop had all types of mugs...another sells hot sauces...all alcohol related products....and so on. Quite cool to wander around looking at everything. Oh and they sell this potato twist...i tot it was like McD's Curly fries.....who knows it came out like this....

It's probably 1 whole potato...and oily...

I was actually supposed to stop over another day in Taiwan on the trip back...so that I could go see Taipei 101, Xi Men Ding again (to take pics and get my dumplings)....but had to cancel it as my grandpa on my dad's side passed away on the last day we were in San Diego. It's ok...will make sure I go to Taiwan again sometime soon!...

Anyway, these few months..i have 2 new obsessions.....reading manga...and cooking blogs! Kinda surprised that I've become so addicted to manga but it's mostly coz of Fruits Basket. I'm mostly interested in shoujo manga, typical girl huh? And cooking blogs...there are some really good ones....with simple recipes...and some great pics....makes me feel like cooking....and also makes me drool... :P

So in my next posts...I'll post up some pics i took on my trip....and review my favourite mangas...and my fave cooking blogs...ahahah.....See u until then....Happy Chinese New YEar....where's my angpow? JK!

Quick update: Guess who I met??

Hahah...talk about procrastinating right? I suppose everyone would think my blog is more or less dead. I'm such a lazy blogger....but seriously, the main problem is that I was cut off from internet for the last 2-3 months. Firstly, my laptop couldn't connect to internet AT ALL, and my bro's CPU was sadly sot-sot at the same time. So, I had to depend on sch and Michael's house :P I recently just packed off my printer and laptop for repairs which are really going to cost me. If the printer's warranty can't hold up, the amount to repair it is enuff to buy a new one! And all this while I've been asking for original Epson ink, and guess what? They've been giving me pirated one :P :P!! SO anyway, was using my bro's computer...but have to wait for opportunities where he's away or sleeping or etc :P

Ok, I know i'm soooo loso lar. Straight to the point then. Most of my relatives on my mum's side came back for Christmas, my 2 uncles with the cousins and aunties came back from KL. Though it was rather a busy week, since 2 families coming on different days, the kch uncle and cousin flying off to HK and back again, and my dad as well. So many airport trips. But on the 22nd of December, Michael and I went shopping around Crowne Square and Hock Lee for my 'Christmas outfit' (lol...sounds so...but hey, due to mum's requests :P) and we decided to eat at the famous chicken rice shop behind Hock Lee. Tho i'm not a big fan of chix rice, but Mike's never tried that shop b4..so..

Anyway, there we were, waiting for our chicken rice to come and I was just looking around. And accidentally saw SOMEONE. I was like ".........*lightbulb flickers on*..Oh My God!!" and Mike got shocked and went "what what? What happened?" I was so excited and I pointed over to the direction of the person and explained. Guess who I saw??

Nicholas Teo (Zhang Tung Liang)

Yes, I'm not kidding. Nicholas Teo of 'Huang Hun' (the sad song that won him Astro Talent Quest) fame and is now a pretty famous celebrity in Taiwan, and basically a lot of Asia. He's currently starring in 'Wei Xiao Pasta' which will also be shown on Astro AEC(Channel 19) soon. Originally, I wasn't that crazy about him when he first started out, but I'd just finished watching Wei Xiao Pasta so...u know....ahaahaha....Oh yea, I guess most ppl would know he's from Kuching too. Former student of Chung Hua Middle Sch no.1

Basically, I was excited bcoz...well...how often do u meet a celebrity in real life? Fine, ppl might say he's a small potato..but hey...still more famous than us rite? And he's eating chicken rice! -_-||| and drives a Kelisa. HAhahaha...anyway i was like..."I think that's him..but i'm worried i recognized wrongly" so I got Michael to reconfirm discreetly and I also whipped out my phone to call my cousin, who also happens to be Nicholas's friend. And YES, it REALLY was him! I was so excited/panicky that I kinda lost my appetite. Michael was asking if i wanted to go over n ask him for autograph or something, but I was soooo paiseh larr...so worried I'd be disturbing his peace n also his lunch. LOL.

So there I was, worrying n fidgeting and kept looking over (until his friends noticed, i think!) and finally he finished eating. I dragged Michael over and started:
(all in Mandarin)
Me: Er..excuse me, are you Nicholas Teo?
Guy: Er...yes (but I heard it as NO)
Me: oh, sorry to disturb then...*starting to turn away*
Guy: No no, I am him.
Me: Oh!!! Err...can I take a pic with you? *indicating hp*
Nicholas: Er..I'm sorry but I'm not allowed to use hp and today my image isn't that good. (dressed quite simply and with baseball cap)
Me: Oh,....then nvm....
Nicholas: Very very very very paiseh and sorry!
Me: It's ok, btw...your Wei Xiao Pasta is nice!
Nicholas: Thanks...and very sorry ya.

And I went back to my seat with Michael....a bit disappointed, but decidedly more relieved and calmer. By then part of our chicken rice had already been cleared! hahaha..luckily Michael had already finished his, but left mine lor. It was ok, coz I didn't really feel like eating..couldn't handle it..lolz....But basically, it was a weird experience, but he was pretty nice, very apologetic about not being able to fulfil my request. Never mind..ahaha..coz my cousin is his friend..and yea...he promised to let me know the next time he meets up with him! ^_^ Seriously, he's probably the only celebrity we'll be able to bump into in Kuching like this. Tat's coz he's from Kuching himself, and so he'll just be hanging out normally. if it's a real Taiwanese star or something, I doubt they'll be so easy to spot, or that they'll be allowed out like tat.

I guess I was lucky to spot him also, coz I'd already noticed his friends b4 he arrived, coz their fashion style was slightly more outstanding that the other customers around. Not too flashy, but not exactly office wear or casual wear like mine. Lolz....what an experience and a story to tell everyone that nite...hopefully I didn't make too big a fool of myself..heeez...but...wished I'd gotten a pic of him...even his back might b ok...but who would believe that's him rite?

Okay....got to go get ready for tonite's bbq dinner at Mike's friends' house. Hope everyone will have a good New Yr's Eve celebration, stay safe! I promise to do a review of the year soon..if ppl are interested anyway..lol...

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May it bring more happiness and success to you all! May we all be healthy and safe too ^_^

Just a rant bout a crappy person : ME

Just feeling rather moody n depressed after what happened last nite. Kinda woke me up and got me thinking about how I am and how I treat ppl. This usually happens after similar incidents. Once again, I realize I am still pretty much the same as b4. Not much change, even tho I've tried. Just like the saying, 'leopard can't change its spots' or 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks'.So what's this stuff about myself that I don't like? Here's a list.

Things I Don't Like About Myself:
- Being arrogant and thinking too highly of myself compared to my actual abilities

- Depending too much on others (80% of my DSP understanding is from copying Mike's old labs) and not doing enough to stop the dependence

- Get stepped on by certain 'geniuses' and still not voice it out, even though i'd normally snap the head off someone who'd dare bully me...

- Being lazy and wasting time playing games/sleeping/watching tv when I know there's a lot to do...and exams are in a month

- Not understanding a whole semester's worth of a subject...and not take the time to work on it

- Get angry at something small easily ...and take it out on innocent ppl who love me...

- Treat those around me badly...but always expect them to do stuff for me..or help me...

I think i can find reasons why I behave like this...but I think that's just finding excuses to forgive myself. Should just stop trying to explain all this and try to work harder on it...but it is very depressing to realize, that I'm still this crappy person who's pretty much useless. Wonder why I still have friends, and such a loving boyfriend, all of which i really don't deserve. *sigh*

Possible Reasons:
- depressed by current family situation: damm bratty brother i have whose ego is the size of KLCC Twin Towers, and thinks he's God's gift to girls (as if) and parents? Must have gotten my 'take it out on others tho it's not their fault' attitude from them....guess i got used to being such a easy target...all that pent-up depression from being at home...with all the crap that's going on btwn all of them....tho i guess i'm not helping much either

- i'm such an idiot...for not knowing more...for not being up to par as the geniuses in my class..

- it's currently that time of the month for me....and I do tend to feel easily angered/depressed and have serious mood swings during this time..

Last nite was a whole new level tho....felt really sad, upset..frustrated b4 i tried to sleep...like i had to break something, cut something...or scream my head off....kinda cooled off after using my currently-long fingernails to use..don't ask

Now in DSP lab...supposedly doing lab..but in btwn typing Matlab commands, I'm chatting in Gmail, downloading manga and updating this very depressing entry. Not to mention, I'm feeling pretty tired out....Haiz. I don't know what I'm doing now. Going to have to work hard, not only in studies, but...to try and fix myself. If only we were more like TV games, if you're not happy with your character's development, you can always start a new game. Or if we're a computer, we can uninstall and install new software. But life...really isn't easy.

Videos for every mood

Interesting quote:
'Mosquitoes only come out from 6pm till 7am. So before and after that, don't need to worry bout mosquitoes' - My grandma
Despite lots of evidence from me, she still refuses to believe otherwise. But then, it could just be me, having super sweet blood or something, for I always attract mosquitoes. Mosquitoes suck big time. Hey..a pun! -_-|||

Been having some weird moodswings lately, and no it's not that time of the month. For example, on Sunday night, i was feeling pretty happy with life and the next afternoon, I was so depressed for no reason at all! Hmm...could it have been Monday blues? Still feeling the after effects though. Anyway, just wanted to post up some videos that I like and they're so different from one another, just like my moods. One for every mood i guess.

Happy mood - David Tao & Jolin Tsai's "Marry Me Today (Qing Tian Ni Yao Jia Gei Wo)"
Ever since I first heard this song, just really enjoyed it. I was surprised to hear that David asked Jolin to sing with him, but hey, it somehow worked out well. So I listen to it everyday and it just puts a smile on my face. I guess it makes me feel all bubbly and cheerful, just like the song. The MTV's really cute too, especially with all those people having to hold all sorts of awkward poses. But another happy song is also David Tao's "Unforgettable (Wang Bu Liao)"

Sentimental/Sad song - Harlem Yu's "Silently (Jing Jing De)"
This is the main theme to Vic Zhou (Zai Zai of F4)'s new series, together with this Korean girl who I think is pretty famous, but I have no idea who. It really fits the storyline of the series but it's also rather sad. Like the simple melody, reminds me of a music box.

There's also Wang Lee Hom's "Finally" which is an amazing 9 minutes long MTV. I've never heard the song b4 this, but the MTV's pretty good. Rather like a short movie on its own.

Upbeat/party song - Jolin Tsai's "Mr Q"
Though I am not really a party girl type, but sometimes there are songs that make me just wanna break out in some silly dance moves or just bop along. Lol...imagine that huh? This is one song, though I'm including it mainly coz there's eye-candy for both guys and gals. Guys will of coz drool over Jolin who looks better than ever, and the ever cute Edison Chen. Sigh..why are these bad boys so darn good-looking. Oh but he has such a disarming smile! Other party songs of the moment include Christina Aguilera's "Ain't no other man", Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous Girl" and others. I bet guys love Pussycat Doll's "Buttons" tho.. ;)

Headaches 101

Developed a headache earlier this afternoon after labeling dozens of books to be donated to a primary school on Friday this week. It kinda subsided before i headed off to school for a night class, which in the end didn't happen, coz the lecturer didn't turn up :P. But after being a couch potato for 2 hours and watching Travel & Living/Star Movies/AXN...it came back. So I thought, y don't I go find out what causes headaches?

You see, during last sem's exams, after studying for awhile, I'd start to feel dizzy and I thought, it might be due to the stress. But after 2 weeks of holidays, I woke up after an afternoon nap and found the room spinning everytime i moved my head. *shudders* It got so bad that I had to stop moving every few seconds. I eventually threw up 4 times that nite, which is basically after every few bites of dinner or few gulps of liquid. Worried, I went to the doctor who explained that I used to have problems with my ear (that 3 loop thingy in ur ear that handles your body's balance?) when I was young. I was like "HUH??!! I did?" But he explained that coz I was coming down with flu, the tube from my throat to ear was starting to get blocked, and thus the imbalance. And geez, I was going to Singapore the next day! Good thing that modern medicine is sooo effective. I was much better the next morning, but still had to keep taking the 'giddy' medicine for the next 2 days. Anyway, on to the Headache 'course'.

Headaches: condition of pain in the head, sometimes neck or upper back pain is also considered *sweatdrops*
Causes: Eyestrain, sinus, tension or life-threatening conditions like brain tumour etc. Don't forget caffeine withdrawal and dehydration. Of course, head injuries
- Most common type:
Vascular headaches, esp in women :P, severe pain on 1 or both sides of head, upset stomach

- Other interesting types of headaches:
1. Ice-cream headache (brain freeze): Studies have shown that the faster you eat something cold, esp slushees, ice-cream, the more likely you are to get brain freeze. Like DUH!...Lolz.

Suggested cures include: moving ur tongue to roof of mouth (to spread more warmth), drink lukewarm water slowly, lie down with ur head on the side, eat cold stuff SLOWLY...ahahahha

2. Coital/sex headaches: Severe headaches at the base of the skull before orgasm during any sexual activity, including masturbation...ahahah! More common in men...*rolls around laughing* The causes are not confirmed, but scientists suspect that a history of high blood pressure or psychological factors play a role.
Suggested cures include: Don't have sex for awhile! (not tonite honey, I have a headache...Lolz), healthier diet and exercise
(Adapted from Wikipedia)
How interesting huh? Hehehehzz....bet you learned something new today ;) But still, doesn't really help with mine. Can still feel it 'lurking' behind my temples. Hope it won't come back anytime soon. Any ideas on how to help/cure headaches, besides the usual panadol? Coz can't always use panadol...

Few thousands words for u

Pics tell a thousand words rite? So here are a few pics:

Few weeks ago, my bro & his classmates met Kenny Sia at Rainforest Music Fest...then who knew......

It was just a week after, I was at Bing with a bunch of my girl friends and then...
Friend A: "Eh, is that Kenny Sia?"
*Since my back is to the guy, I quickly turn around and check*
Me: "Noler, he doesn't look like in his blog ler.."
Friend B & C: "Who's Kenny Sia?" *sweatdrops*

Friend A and I then proceed to explain and we still weren't sure if it was Kenny, coz the guy was wearing specs....
Friend A: "Do you want to go ask if he's Kenny Sia?"
Me:
What if we're wrong? Then si beh sia xuey larrr"
Friend B:
"If you guys r going to ask n ur wrong..I'm going to pretend I don't know u" *Gee..thx a lot! Lolz*
Friend C: "Do you think he's blogging now?" coz the guy was using his laptop
Friend B: "Yeah, and he'll blog how this bunch of gals were at Bing with him and giggling about him"
Friend A:
"Okay, we'll just ask him when we leave. At least won't b so bad if we're wrong"

And so, when we got up to leave, we had to pass him on the way to the entrance. As the 'appointed' person to ask, i went
Me:"Errrrr...s'cuse me, but er..are u Kenny Sia?"
Guy wit
h a sheepish grin : "Er...yeah..."
Me:
"Oh, we read ur blog a lot" Kenny: "Thanks!"
*awkward & rather long pause*
Friend A: "Erm..can we take a pic with u?"
Kenny:
"Sure"
So i go first and pose with him, but unfortunately, first one had my friend's finger partly covering it, so took another one which turned out fine.

Then came Friend A, since the others din read his blog and didn't want to take a pic. Just as we pressed the shutter button, she went "STOP!!" We all groaned and poor Kenny was confused. You see, she's picky about how she takes pics. So, after adjusting herself and Kenny re-smiling, voila, a perfect pic! In conclusion, Kenny seems more shy in person than what we read on the blog. Guess this is in line with what he once bout not being same in reality as his blog personality. Seemed to be a bit under the weather too. (And no, he didn't blog about us.)

Now for some random pics!

Movie gossip

As you might have noticed from the title, I'm back with more movie info! Lol. Well..for those who don't bother to be as kepo as me...might as well just put it all in one post rite? If you want to get the latest movie info or rumours yourself, Rotten Tomatoes is a pretty good site to go to. Or if you're into chinese movies head to Monkey Peaches.

Movie Sequels News:
1. Batman - Yup, they're starting on the sequel, as per my last movie post. Borneo Post printed a small article announcing that they've chosen the new Joker. Guess who? Heath Ledger!! My gosh..of all ppl....I think I'd still prefer Robin Williams, at least he's funny right? But they say they want a totally diff performance from the Jack Nicholson Joker. Earlier rumours claimed that Johnny Depp was in line for the Joker. That would have been incredibly cool. Johnny Depp would guarantee a great performance. Plus, apparently there's going to be MULTIPLE villains! Gee, are they taking a page out of Spiderman 3's book? The man who in the future becomes the villain Two-Face (perhaps played by Jude Law) might appear, just as in Spiderman 3. Another rumoured villain is supposed to be female...and might be played by The Mummy's Rachel Weisz.

I wish I knew how to FIRE him as the Joker!

2. Hellboy - Yes..there's going to be a Hellboy sequel..tho the 1st one didn't do that well. But guess they think that the fanboys are still going to want to go.

3. National Treasure 2 - For me, it was a pretty interesting movie. C'mon, stealing the Declaration of Independence? What a crazy idea...but it worked. The good guys didn't use guns at all in the movie...and they had some innovative ways of finding the treasure. Critics called it the 'Da Vinci Code' wannabe. However, as per my review of it earlier....the original Da Vinci Code movie was crappy...so..yea...why not a sequel to National Treasure?

4. The Mummy - Was watching the Mummy Returns last nite...and went to read up on Wikipedia about it. And guess what i found? All the actors and the director are keen to do a sequel...and rumours have it...it'll be next yr! I enjoyed the first movie more than the 2nd ..but both were pretty ok...c'mon..i like adventure movies....and they were funny..with some icky parts...and yay..more of Brendan Fraser with Rachel Weisz. They make a good couple!..ahah

Oh Brendan, save me! No, Rachel, save ME from the Mummy!

Game Movie News:
1. Halo - Yup...i think this is a long delayed movie in the making. Previous rumours had Ben Affleck in one of the major roles, which I hope isn't true, coz it'll just look like Armageddon. There's also news that Denzel Washington will play Sarge or something. And producers are trying to get Peter Jackson of LOTR to direct. I guess it'll be good with him in charge. Sorry I don't know more, but I don't play the game.

2. DOA:Dead or Alive - At least I've played this, in my 'younger' years. Lol...it's a fighting game...but rather..sexist in my opinion. And yes...the movie also follows in the footsteps of the game. 5 hot gals for all the fanboys to lust over: Jaime Pressly, Devon Aoki, Holly Valance, Sarah Carter, Natassia Malthe.

Jaime Pressly: No, i don't need Botox yet

Is this statue too big to go round my neck? Holly Valance, Jaime, Devon Aoki

And the obligatory bikini photo for all u guys out there :P

I only know the first 3...but the other 2 look pretty hot too. They're going to be dressed in sexy get-ups, of coz they'll look hot. Plus..they're including the beach volleyball part of the game. So..you also get 5 babes in skimpy Bikinis...what more could a guy ask for rite??.....Talk about overdoing the sex factor. But it's directed by Corey Yuen..hmm..My prediction? A movie that tries too hard and will fail.

Asian Movie News:
1. Jet Li & Jackie Chan - There's been talks of them to star in the same movie and the latest news is that it's going to be loosely based on 'Journey to the West'. Jackie might be a drunken master (as per his recent performance at Jonathan Lee's concert) and Jet as the Tang monk, Tripitaka. It'll also apparently incorporate some time travel storyline. In a nutshell, it's claimed to be something like Karate Kid meets Drunken Master and Journey to the West plus some Time Machine...Hmm...I'd rather Jet VS Jackie!

Gasp! Jet & Jackie..wat r u doing?

2. Donnie Yen - Newspaper reports that he's been approached by the Lee family...to play Bruce Lee in the movie they're producing! Donnie says he's interested but he doesn't feel that he's fit enuff yet. Gosh, have you guys seen his muscles? Check out Dragon Tiger Gate...they're huge!...Well..i do think he would be the best person to play Bruce Lee..after all, he had the hair in Dragon Tiger Gate..ahhaah!

Advert for his hair..or deodorant?

3. Dragon Tiger Gate - Yes, there'll be a sequel!! Alrite..more of guys with flyaway long silky hair...ahhaha!!...Donnie Yen has stated that the 3 of them will be back for more high kicking action.....together with his 'love interest' from the 1st movie. My suggestion? Try deviating from the original comic storyline..just a lil bit pls..You'll understand y if you watch the movie.

4. Jay Chou - Jay's new movie, together with Gong Li and Chow Yun Fat is now called 'Curse of the Golden Flower' from the original title 'The City of Golden Armour'. Hmm..i prefer the original title more. Anyway, here are some pics from the movie, directed by Zhang Yimou, showing Jay as the 2nd oldest prince of the Emperor (Chow Yun Fat).

So serious lar.., can u spot Jay?

Design sketches of Jay's character

Hebe,
look at all my bling bling!

5. Chow Yun Fat - Besides his Zhang Yimou movie, he's also doing Pirates of the Caribbean. Here are some pics of how he looks as a chinese pirate.

Arr lassie, does my braided mustache and yellow teeth turn you on?

Visiting the Oil Town

I know it's really been a long time since my last update. Geez, I'm already feeling lazy about updating so soon into my new blog :P That's not good. Anyway, I was in Miri in early July together with Mika Kuan for the InteRota Zone Assembly, as hosted by the Rotaract Club of Curtin. However, once we reached there, it turned out that bsides the Miri Rotaractors, there were only 5 other Rotaractors from Kch and Sibu *sweatdrops* There were about 50-60 Interactors from Miri tho. It was a 3 day 2 nite event, but we decided to stay one extra day just to see some of Miri. The last time I was in Miri, it was about 9-10 years ago, and I'd heard that it's really changed to be almost more modern than Kch. Especially the shopping!

We first arrived on a Friday, 3oth of June, coincidentally, the last day in the Rotary year, meaning, my official last day as Rotaract president. After some crazy driving from the Rotaractor who picked us up from the airport, we met up with the rest of the Rotaractors from Miri and Sibu, who'd come in by bus. The rest of the day was spent settling into our accomodation for the trip, the newly constructed Curtin Villa houses (which are meant for Curtin students), and getting to know the rest of the participants. We're kinda like the guinea pigs for the Villas, coz it was very dusty everywhere, tho it was all completed.

My 1st hostel! Home for 3 days

We were brought for a campus tour of Curtin, which really looks like a western campus, and is pretty big. Next, the Interactors were bundled into the bus, while Rotaractors were in various cars and we all headed to Tanjung Selera, which is a public park by the sea. The Interactors played ice breaking games while us OLD ppl walked around. Lol...of coz we felt old in comparison. Dinner was fairly simple, and was also at Tanjung. Didn't do much after reaching 'home' as Mika abandoned me for more 'luxurious' accomodation at his relative's house. There was TV in the living room, but since like every other thing in the house, it's from China and needs a different plug. So ....nothing to do!

Before: The beach looking pretty dull and stormy

After: Lighted up by a spectacular sunset

I woke up earlier than my alarm, due to the boys playing football just outside my 'house'. But the rest of the day was spent in Curtin's lecture theatre, listening to some speeches, lectures and training on being in the BOD. Sad news was that I had to give a presentation on Rotaract on all levels. It was supposed to b one hour long...but bcoz the speech b4 mine took too long, i had less time. Which was good tho!..Ended speaking for bout 40 mins. That interesting speech b4 mine was by Dato Lau Siu Wai, who is this rich entrepreneur guy who owns and sponsored our accomodation, and was 'instrumental' in bringing Curtin to Miri. But, a lot of the Miri participants complained that it's their 4th or 5th time listening to the same speech. Lol! To me, my observation is simply this: "Are all Datos like tat....kinda 'ham' and loso old men?"

Anyway, that nite was slightly better, since there was a BBQ. Well..an attempted one. Managed to start talking to the others lo....coz din know what to say to them earlier..Lolz, i'm so useless. No choice anyway, Mika abandoned me yet again! Hung out with all the Rotaractors and around 11pm, the Miri guys asked if I wanted to join them to watch the England VS Portugal match in town. So yeah, since there wasn't much, and it's England....I went along. Turns out all the other guys who were under 18..wanted to tag along. So we brought along some of them, including some gals. Felt like such a mum, constantly nagging them that they can't drink or we'd all be in trouble. Several places were full, so we ended up at this food place owned by Alan Salon's owner, bhind San Francisco Coffee. It was actually my 1st time watching a footie match outside of home, and it was kinda strange that it was with these ppl i'd never met b4 the past few days. Interesting match, but disappointing for England fans. Stupid sissy Ronaldo....sheesh...

Noticed something bout one of the other customers at the place...earlier in the match..he was wearing a Portugal jersey...but when England seemed to improve, he disappeared..and reappeared in a white England jersey!! Talk about fickle. But it was off to sleep as we had to wake up early that morning. We went to the Old Folks Home to do some painting and cleaning up. I ended up working in the garden, but bcoz we didn't have appropriate tools, there wasn't much we could do. But they did managed to repaint their hall and it looked pretty good. There were some more talks and a Q&A session back at Curtin. Then we were back at Curtin Villa, RUSHING to get ready for that nite's Closing Ceremony cum RAC Curtin's Installation at Dynasty Hotel. The hardest part of getting ready...was that there were no mirrors at all! I had to resort to using my hp to check how i looked *sweatdrops*.

All the Rotaractors of Kch and Miri (Sibu went home first)

The bad thing about their installation, was that i ended up at the VIP table. I didn't know most of the ppl there...so I was quiet, unless Bay, the outgoing President was there. But though it was his un-installation, he was bz running around too. The food was pretty nice tho and all the different groups of Interactors had to perform and most were interestingly fun. After all that, the Rotaractors brought us for drinks at this place near Cheerie Berries and the rest of the nightspots. But since it was a Sunday nite...it was pretty quiet. We went back to Curtin Villa, and it was supposed to be just me and Mika. But 3 of the Miri guys decided to accompany us. We ended up staying up chatting from 12-3am. About what? Chasing gals...lol...we were asked for advise on how to chase gals...mayb should consider setting up some courses! AHhahah

Few hrs later, we went for a dimsum breakfast..which was cheap for what we ordered....if only Kch had cheap dimsum too!...Most of the day was spent bowling, the guys playing at the arcades....looking around all the diff shopping centers...about 3-4? Shopping wise...I only bought a Adidas World Cup shirt...to match Michael's blue Japan shirt...and I also got him this white Adidas England shirt...so impulsive! But it was one of the Rotarian's shop..so..it's ok. Yeah, there were some shops that kch and KL have..but...nothing much lo. We had lunch at this Jap restaurant, near the schools of the girls the 2 guys were chasing. Later we had a rushed dinner at Dynasty Hotel *sweatdrops* as we had to rush off to the airport. Luckily we made it with some time to spare. Phew!

Mika & his Miri sidekicks..lol!

All in all, it was a pretty ok trip. I mostly enjoyed the last 2 nites and the last day, coz of the fellowship with the Rotaractors. It was nice that they brought us around and accompanied us here and there. Hope they'll look us up when they come over.
